This course is designed to provide student teachers with the prerequisite skills which are necessary for them to become effective practitioners in this field. The course focuses on four major themes which are grounded in the concepts of teaching, learning, creating aesthetically pleasing classroom atmospheres and engage in planning and micro teaching in various learning climates. Its specially selected teaching/learning activities will seek to provide students with the opportunity to explore the different models/approaches to teaching, the role of motivation in the classroom and the teacher as a reflective practitioner. Learning will be assessed via a combination of traditional and alternative tasks.
