Course Description
This is a three credit course designed to orientate students into the requisite attitudes for research and to provide the experiences needed for them to acquire the knowledge base and skills to become classroom problem solvers. This three-unit course entails the sources of knowledge: nature, process and designs of action research, strategies for dealing with unique ethical issues in this kind of research, and statistical technique for data analysis.
This course is built on the premise that learning is integrative and the teaching/learning experiences provided are influenced by the constructivist ideology. Therefore the teaching/learning experiences will be interactive, exploratory, contentious and self-directed. Assessment is continuous and authentic. It will utilize techniques from the alternative paradigm. Final students’ assessment is based on the accumulation of the units’ assessment tasks.
