Course Description
The practicum experience is designed to provide student teachers with the opportunity to apply and integrate the knowledge that they have acquired through prerequisite courses. In clarifying and broadening career goals, the practicum experience assists student teachers in discovering, developing and refining necessary competencies and skills for the teaching profession.
The Practicum 11B further aims to expose students to their professional role by completing — hours in the field in different educational contexts. Students are required to operate in the role of a professional in an assigned institution throughout the practicum period and should work independently of other colleagues. An assigned supervisor will conduct stipulated site visits for each student teacher while on the practicum.
This course provides student teachers with supervised, practical and applied experiences in teaching. Student teachers will have an opportunity to practice skills gained in prerequisite courses and receive feedback about their competencies and development as teachers. Student teachers are required to attend mandatory seminars and a debriefing session with supervisors and practicum personnel during and at the end of the practicum.
