Course Description
This course provides a basis for students to develop concrete understandings and a broadened appreciation of dance as an art form in the context of modern dance technique constructs. Through dynamic involvement in class/studio processes, students engage in an exploration and inquiry of fundamental movement principles and modern dance techniques; towards coherent development of technical abilities.
Included in this course is general study of major dance genres, anatomy and physiology as well as structured improvisation and choreography which provide the opportunity for students to manipulate abstract ideas, and develop their creativity. It will also afford them the opportunity to describe efficient and effective use of the human body through the application of sound mechanical and anatomical principles.
