The Foundation English course is a part of a package of English language courses that prepares students to cope with university education and sets the foundation for them to be more functional communicators. The course consists of a number of competencies: grammar, mechanics, listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, structure, critical thinking and self-learning. The contents, serving as a base to develop these competencies, reflect a blend of various curricular and socio-cultural topics. A number of learning tasks will facilitate quality diagnostic and formative feedback from both lecturers and students on the latter’s progress throughout the course.
